Bona Wood Floor Polish

DFW Steam Cleaning provides a variety of wood floor cleaning services. As a contractor, we exclusively use Bona Professional (gray bottle) products that can only be obtained through an authorized Bona Distributor. However, Bona has consumer-grade products that are sold in the major box stores. We have always recommended Bona products for Wood Floor maintenance, which included the consumer products (white bottle) however, we have recently realized that Many Bona consumer products contain acrylic wax, even though it does not disclose the presence of acrylic on the label. Acrylic wax can ruin modern wood floors, especially hand-scraped hardwood. Firstly, it's not needed and secondly, acrylic does not bond to urethane so it's a complete waste of time to apply it. You will have shiny results for a little while, but at some point, the flaking will start as well as the white milky haze on the hardwood.

Bona makes great cleaners. Boner makes two versions of products a consumer-grade white bottle product line and a professional or contractor grade Gray bottle product line. At DFW steam cleaning we only use the professional-grade detergents and cleaners that must be purchased from a bona distributor. It doesn't matter that it's a bona Polish vs another branded polish it's all acrylic wax. Acrylic wax will not stick nor bond to modern-day UV coated wood floors. There is a short-term benefit to using polishes on hardwood. The floor can be shinier than normal. You can cover up scuffs or scratches in the urethane from dogs cats are kids' toys. But at some point, that floor will start to look hazy it will get white blotches,  the Polish itself will scuff it will attract dirt and you will be unable to properly clean and maintain your floor until the acrylic wax and polish is stripped from the floor,
Never apply any polish to any modern UV coated floor.
